3DO was a video game console originally made by Panasonic in 1993. Despite a highly-promoted launch (and a host of cutting-edge technologies, the 3DO's high price $699.95 at launch and limited support, and to many consoles on the market prevented the system from achieving success compared to companys like Sony and Nintendo at the time.
I had one of these. It was good and bad getting one. Good because I loved the games I had for it and bad as I couldn't find anywhere that stocked them. I remember Wing Commander 3 and Psychic Detective. I loved the idea of Interactive Movies, it was a movie, but you got to control the storyline by making different choices at different times so it meant there was more than one different ending and depending on your choices depended on what ending you got to see. I seen the Playstation versions of Wing Commander 3 and Psychic Detective and I didn't like them. The graphic were much smoother and cripser on the 3DO and alround looked better. The sound was better too. It was a good machine, good capabilities, but unfortunately not backed well enough. If I could I would have one back again.
